You Reap What You Sow
Hey, family! I pray that you all have the most productive week ever. I am also praying for this for myself as well. There are so many things that I want to do, but it always feels like there is never enough time and things fall by the waste side. We must be more intentional with our efforts if we are going to obtain the things we want out of life. Whether the goals are big or small, God has given us a choice to take the first step and pursue whatever it is we want out of life. Are our efforts telling him that we are ready to take our blessings to the next level, or is the lack of effort screaming, “they aren’t ready?”
I heard something that I felt like I should have known, but I have never even really thought about it. In Bible study the other week, we were discussing briefly; reaping what you sow. Pastor/hubs pointed out that reaping what you sow does not have to be a bad thing. How did it develop a negative connotation? There are several scriptures in the Bible that discuss reaping what you sow. It means exactly what it says; you will reap a particular harvest based on the type of seed that you sowed. If you are out here sowing bad seeds, then you are going to receive a bad harvest, but, there is always a but, if you are out here sowing good seeds, then that harvest is going to be abundantly good.
Simply put, there is an effect for all the things we do and the things that we say. Something that I adopted a long time ago and I still live by to this day is making sure when people experience me, they remember nothing but the good. I have worked in healthcare for a very long time. You must have a love for people when you are working in healthcare and dealing with patients directly. I don’t care what anyone says. When people are sick, they are scared, confused, and sometimes angry. You are also dealing with family members who mirror those same feelings. I am coming to most of them during the most vulnerable time in their lives. I refuse to let their encounter with me be a bad one. They may not remember everything I told them, but they will always remember how I made them feel, and that has become very important to me. I never really looked at that as sowing seeds, but it is. By me making sure that I am doing right by people is sowing seeds, and when I think about it, I have reaped a harvest from it on multiple occasions.
So, what are you saying, T? I am simply saying; that when you talk about reaping and sowing, don’t let it always be about the negative. Reaping and sowing can be a positive thing as well. What are some of the positive things you have sowed? Have you reaped the harvest? I bet you have and you didn’t even think about it because we are so used to seeing it as a negative. But hindsight is 20/20.
