New Year New Me

Welcoming the New Year with a Fresh Mindset

Firstly, Happy New Year to all of my beloved family members! It is an honor to share this moment with you all. It is amazing how the New Year brings a sense of newness and clarity. Yet, it is also evident that after a few days have passed, we often find ourselves back in the same routine. Let's talk about it!

My daughter asked me the famous question, "New Year, New Me?". I must admit, I have used this phrase myself. But, what does this really mean? Is changing our behavior to meet our New Year's resolutions enough? The truth is, changing our mindset is necessary for any real changes to occur.

I understand that changing our behavior is not easy. I have tried to cut out sugar many times and have convinced myself that starting on a Monday or at the beginning of the year, would make it easier. But, the reality is, when we truly make up our minds to make a change, no matter what day or time of the year it is, we will commit to it.

So, what am I saying? I'm not discouraging anyone from setting New Year's goals. However, it is important to focus on having a New Year mindset. Nothing will change until we change our minds. As the elders used to say, "you have to be sick and tired of being sick and tired." This is true, our minds must be made up that we will do things differently this time around. This may include letting go of negative people, choosing to be silent instead of reacting in anger, or walking away from toxic situations. We must make up our minds to do better and be better, and not just provide lip service.

In conclusion, I want to encourage all of you to have a fresh mindset as we embark on this new year. I love you all and wish you a happy and prosperous new year.
