Without Careful Consideration
Hello, hello, hello family! We have made it yet another week. I am so happy to be back with you all today with another dose of inspiration and motivation. To say that this past week has been eventful, would only be an understatement. But here I am, ready to drop a few inspirational bars your way. Let’s get into it!
Anyone who knows me knows that I love court tv. I can never get enough of the honorable Judge Greg Mathis or Judge Marilyn Milian. NO MEAL is complete without me turning one of them on while I’m snacking. I have learned quite a few things from watching the shows. Prayerfully I will never have to use that knowledge! Anyway, I said all that to say; I learned a new word from watching Judge Milian the other day. She hit a litigant with the word; “precipitous”. I literally had to go back and hear the word again. Then I looked it up because I wanted to know exactly what it meant. The second definition of precipitous is; done suddenly and without careful consideration.
So of course you know the wheels in my mind started to turn. I posed a question to myself. How many times have I been precipitous in my decision-making? I mean, how many times have I said something or done something without considering the outcome? If I had a nickel for every time I did that, OMG, I would be a rich woman. In the court case I was watching, the plaintiff made a decision about something precipitously and ended up on the losing end. To say she was mad would be a major understatement. The sad thing about it was; she didn’t even see where she was wrong.
So I bet you’re wondering; Tara, what in the world are you talking about and how does this apply to me? I’m here to tell you, it applies to us all! Lousy and thoughtless decisions cause negative outcomes. Our inability to take the time and think before doing something or saying something can cause emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological damage not only to the people around us but to ourselves as well. I know it's a hard thing for some to do, but taking the time to think before acting keeps us out of trouble. In everything that we do, we must consider the weight of it carefully. This is a sign of maturity and growth. Only an immature person acts before thinking. I’d like to think that I am better than that, and I hope and pray that you are too.
So, has there ever been a time when you jumped the gun and acted before giving careful consideration? If so, what was the outcome? Did you learn anything from it? Are you a repeat offender? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.
