Process of Elimination

Hey family. It is time for another week of inspiration with a sprinkle of motivation. You all might not like what I have to say this week. I might hit a little too close to home for you, but that’s okay. I wouldn't be me if I didn't ruffle a few feathers from time to time. Let’s go ahead and dive in!

Most of us know about the process of elimination in math. In a nutshell, it is basically the act of considering and rejecting possible choices until only one option is left. We get those answers by using several methods to exclude other entities in order to get to the correct answer. Now let me be clear, I am nobody's mathematician. I only know a little. But in this instance, I think that I am somewhat right.

What does this mean? Why are we talking about the process of elimination on Motivational Message Monday? The older I get, the more I realize that there are some things and some people that I no longer want to deal with in my life. Now, don’t go grabbing your pearls and getting out your holy oil ready to spray me down. I think it is perfectly okay for Christian people to reevaluate their surroundings and start the elimination process of the things that keep them from God, are a burden, or don’t simply mean them any good. We tolerate a lot of things as Christians because we were taught to. We were made to believe that it wasn’t Christian-like to cut people off or to say no. These things can be further from the truth. I want peace in my life. I want people around me that are going to bring peace to my life. Understand this; things are going to happen to disrupt your peace. Situations will arrive that will turn your world upside down. This, however, is not an everyday occurrence. This is a season. I refuse to let people come into my life and disrupt it for years. I refuse to be bound by things, feelings, and thoughts that keep me from being who God has called me to be.

Hold on to your hats…I am also willing to let go of forced relationships. Yes, we can simply force some relationships into working because it seems right. I am talking about all relationships. Friendships included. Who says you have to be friends with someone because you all have been friends for 20 years? I prefer quality over longevity any day of the week.

I want you to ask yourself a question. Ask yourself: is this relationship, thought, feeling, emotion, or thing, beneficial to me? Is it propelling me to be the best version of myself that I can be? Do these things give me a hunger and thirst to seek after God? If the answer to all these questions is a hard no. Then I don’t have to tell you what to do. Start the elimination process. IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait. Start shedding the dead weight from your life and start living like God wants you to…with peace that surpasses all understanding.
