Family Matters
I love my family. I mean…I really love my family. If you ask me, I think I have the best family in the whole entire world. Don’t get me wrong, we are nowhere near perfect, but we love each other very much. The end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 proved to be a tough time for us. We lost loved ones, and we didn’t even see it coming. Nothing could have prepared us for the amount of devastation our family faced during that time. One thing it didn’t do, however, was, break us. It tried. Lord knows it tried. But we are still here, standing, and loving each other. My family is strong, they are fierce, and most of all, they are awesome.
What is a family? I mean, what does it mean to you? A lot of people consider members of their family to be individuals that aren't related to them by blood. Still, they have proven themselves to have a sense of loyalty and love that makes them qualified to be family. However you paint the picture, family is what you make it to be. Just like with anything else, you have to take the good with the bad. I don’t know any family, including my own, that doesn’t have a few bad apples in the bunch. But that’s what makes us so special. Knowing that we all are not perfect, but we are still able to function in one space together as a unit.
This past weekend, we celebrated my uncle’s 60th birthday. 60 years! He was so surprised. I was just so happy that I was able to witness the joy he experienced when he walked through the door and saw all those people who loved him and who were there just for him. It made me reflect on how we always seem to band together for the greater good and just simply be there for each other. It also made me wonder about the dynamics in other families.
What is your family like? Are you all close? Has something so devastating happened that it threw you all off track and your family has not been able to get back on? Do you have a loving family? I want to know. I would like to know what you consider family and what it looks like to you. Share some funny stories in the comments about your family!
And if by some chance, you don’t have family, my family will be your family. The TJ&M family will be your family. We will love you, pray for you, tell you when you’re wrong, and then turn around and lift you up. If you have people in your life who do all those things, whether they are blood or not, then they are your family! Cherish them and keep them close, because family truly matters.
I love my family so much, I decided to share a few snaps of us over the years. Sorry guys! Love yall!
