Curveball
Hey Family! Let me ask you a question. Have everything that has been going on in your life, been going pretty well? I mean like, nothing is wrong? All is good? There are no problems? Your skin even trying to have a bit of a glow?! You and your spouse are getting along? You and the kids are not at war right now? Can you picture a scene so serene? I know I could. Up until this week, I had. Then there was a slight curve ball that was thrown our way. The question is; how did it affect us? Let’s dive in!
This is probably not my story to tell, but the hubs is not going to tell it, so I chose to drop a little inspiration via my superman of a husband. This past week, superman decided to go play basketball. After being gone for a few hours, he called me. I immediately knew that something was wrong. He informed me that he tore his Achilles and that he was on the way to come and pick me up so that we can go to the emergency room. After picking me up (his driving leg was okay) we proceeded to go to the local ER. We arrived at 9pm and did not leave that dreadful place until 3am. Only for them to tell him to visit the orthopedic doctor in the morning. After playing uber driver to my children that next morning, I took superman to the doctor. It was confirmed by two physicians that he indeed tore his achilles completely and that he would need surgery. That Friday!
Now, I won’t say that I went into panic mode because I always know that God’s got us, but my mind did immediatly go to our businesses. Superman is the boss man of two of the three companies that we run. With him down, where does that leave us? I know it sounds silly because he’s hurt, not dead. But you have to understand the human in me immediately went to the worst of the worst. I already had us bankrupt and in the poor house. I wasn’t expecting this curveball. At all! But then I remembered that God is faithful and that this did not take him by surprise. He knew this was going to happen before we did and he had already put provisions in place. I knew we had an amazing team of people, but their awesomeness really showed up when they had a man down. They stepped up. Superman literally doesn’t have to worry about anything except getting better.
I didn’t want to ramble today. I just wanted to encourage everyone; that when curveballs come your way, trust that God has already made provisions for you before it even happened. Also, know that nothing takes him by surprise. He knew before and he knows that you are going to endure after. Keep pushing. Don’t let a setback cause you to hit the panic button. Allow a setback to only push you further in your faith in God!
